Two new species of Fossombronia are described: F.angulifolia Perold from Lesotho and F.swaziensis Perold from Swaziland and Mpumalanga.
F.angulifolia is characterised by erect or semi-erect, 2-4-lobed, read more angular leaves, by mostly incompletely reticulate spores and by rather short elaters F.swaziensis can be recognised by large, rounded or read more sometimes shallowly notched leaves, which are rather stiff and bi- to multistratose basally, by quite large perigonial bracts in the male plants and by spores which have irregular areolae containing tubercular inclusions.
